130 Kilometer ausserhalb Moskaus schauen Freunde und Familie in einem Wochenendhaus den Viertelfinal Russland gegen Kroatien. Das Spiel verkommt zur Nebensache, diskutiert wird über Politik und das russische Leben.

«Dieser Baum ist tot, den können wir fällen.» Alexander setzt das Beil am Stamm an, nach ein paar Minuten liegt der Baum am Boden, bevor er durch den Wald zurück zum Wochenendhaus getragen wird. Die letzte Abzweigung führt durch einen Wald, Laternen gibt es nicht, die Strasse mit Kieselsteinen ist etwa so breit wie das Fahrzeug. Nach dem Wald reihen sich Anwesen an Anwesen, die Gärten sind eingezäunt. Hinter dem Tor in der Einfahrt stehen vier Autos.

Der 30-jährige Boris hat einige Freunde eingeladen für das grosse Spiel gegen Kroatien. Zuerst schauen alle nur ungläubig in Richtung Fernseher, den Mund leicht geöffnet. «Unglaublich. Das ist doch nicht Russland», sagt Alexander. Vova nimmt eine leere Pet-Flasche hervor, die er mit Kieselsteinen gefüllt hat, und schüttelt sie. «Rossija, Rossija, Rossija.» Nikita, der eine Mütze von Spartak Moskau auf dem Kopf und ein Adler-Tattoo auf der Brust trägt, schüttelt den Kopf und füllt die kleinen Gläser mit Wodka.

Über eine Million Datschas rund um Moskau

Das Wochenendhaus gehört Vova und seiner Frau Louisa. Fast jedes Wochenende verbringen sie in ihrer Datscha, wie die Wochenendhäuser in Russland genannt werden. Am Freitagabend geht es raus aufs Land, am Sonntagabend zurück. «Im Sommer sind wir so oft wie möglich hier», sagt Vova. Normalerweise wohnt die Familie in einer Wohnung mitten in Moskaus Innenstadt. Sohn Boris sagt, dass viele lieber auf dem Land leben würden, das wäre auch günstiger. «Aber hier gibt es keine Jobs, ausser man will Bauer sein. Doch wer das macht, ist verrückt. Man erhält fast keine Unterstützung vom Staat.»

Das Spiel läuft, das Interesse hält sich in Grenzen. Der Jüngste, der achtjährige Danya, Neffe von Boris, nimmt sich den Ball und jongliert vor dem Haus. Als Kroatien ausgleicht, jubelt Nikita. «Ich bin mir sicher, dass wir verlieren. Unser Nationalteam ist einfach schlecht», sagt er und lacht. Er mag Deutschland, auch Russland gefällt ihm ganz gut, ausser es geht um Fussball. Warum mag er denn Spartak? «Spartak ist eine Ausnahme.» Boris kritisiert das System des russischen Fussballs. «Nur wer Geld hat, hat die Chance, Profifussballer zu werden. Das ist Russland, es geht immer nur um Geld. Trotzdem würde ich mich über einen Sieg Russlands freuen.»

Am Abend nach der Anreise gibt es einige Getränke, bevor sich alle in Richtung Banja machen. Alexanders Freundin Julia hat bereits eingeheizt, es ist über 80 Grad warm. Sie weiss auch, wie das mit den Zweigen funktioniert. Sie führt das traditionell russische Quästen durch. Mit nassen Birkenzweigen schlägt sie denjenigen in der Banja leicht. Auch während des Spiels würde ein Gang zur Banja gut tun, es hat merklich abgekühlt. Als ein Spieler gefoult wird und sich am Boden wälzt, sagt sie: «Die Fussballer sind alles Simulanten. Darum mag ich Eishockey lieber.» Wer im Spiel gewinnt, ist ihr egal. «Ich bin nicht patriotisch. Zwar mag ich unser Land, aber ich mag unsere Regierung nicht.» Hat sie also etwas gegen Putin? Sie zuckt mit den Schultern. «Es ist halt einfach Putin, wir haben keinen andern. Er kümmert sich sehr um die Aussenpolitik, macht aber wenig für das Volk.»

Grossvater Vova hat am Nachmittag vor dem Viertelfinal zum eigenen Match aufgerufen. Vier gegen vier auf dem Rasen. Dazu trägt er ein altes Dress von Spartak Moskau. «Ich mag unsere Nationalmannschaft. Aber Spartak ist wichtiger», sagt er. Vova ist im Verliererteam, gleich erging es ihm auch schon davor beim Volleyball. «Ich bin aber noch fit für einen Grossvater», sagt er und lacht. Neben dem Rasen stehen Tischtennistisch und Trampolin. Sport ist wichtig, der kleine Danya macht am Morgen Rumpfbeugen.

Trommel während, Gitarre nach dem Spiel

Als Torschütze Tscheryschew ausgewechselt wird, applaudiert Alexander. «Er hat gut gespielt», findet auch Boris. Es geht in die Verlängerung. Danya und dessen Urgrossvater, der ebenfalls Boris heisst und bald 90-jährig ist, verabschieden sich in Richtung Bett. 2:1 für Kroatien, Boris schüttelt den Kopf, Alexander flucht, Nikita lacht. Wenig später folgt der Ausgleich zum 2:2 durch Mario Fernandes. Vova holt eine Trommel und macht Lärm, minutenlang, bis zum Ende der Verlängerung. Alexander strahlt. «Super-Mario!» Boris, Vova und er stimmen an: «Rossija, Rossija, Rossija.» Penaltyschiessen. Zuerst grosser Jubel, Goalie Akinfejew hält, die Trommel hat inzwischen ein Loch. Dann ist es aber fertig mit Super-Mario. Russland scheidet aus. Alexander kann beim entschiedenen Penalty von Kroatiens Rakitic nicht hinsehen. Danach steht er auf und applaudiert. «Wir sind stolz. Jeder ist überrascht davon, wie gut wir an der Weltmeisterschaft waren.»

Eine halbe Stunde nach Spiel­ende sitzen die Freunde rund ums Feuer. Boris und Tanja stimmen abwechslungsweise mit der Gitarre russische Klassiker an, alle singen mit. Die Grossstadt Moskau ist ganz weit weg.
